October starts with Vintage Train's 47773 staying in for the booked steam traction at the head of the Cotswold Explorer charter from Tyseley to Oxford. The 1Z95 seen at Highworth Junction, Swindon. At least in this case it wasn't yet another case of Network Rail shrinking the clearances so the loco was out of gauge. The booked loco failed its fittest to run exam late the previous evening, and with no other steam loco being available at such short notice, 47773 had to work the train instead. But a green 47 with chocolate and cream coaches wasn't a bad sight as a back up.
